- About the Authority
  
  The Authority for Public Services Regulation is responsible for regulating the electricity sector and some aspects of the water sector. It was established by Article (19) of The Law for the Regulation and Privatisation of the Electricity and Related Water Sector promulgated by Royal Decree 78/2004 on 1 August 2004 and amended by Royal Decree 59/2009 and 47/2013.

- What are my rights?
  
  The Authority believes that helping customers to know their rights is essential to ensure that the electricity companies fulfill their obligations towards them and provide high quality services in order to protect their interests. The Authority requires electricity suppliers to prepare Codes of Practices and Procedures that must be approved by the Authority, in relation to key service areas and to publish these Codes and Procedures as booklets available to all customers, on request.

In accordance with the decision issued by the Council of Ministers, the new tariffs for the electricity and water sectors have been endorsed. The Authority issued its regulations. The new approved electricity tariffs have been endorsed and include the following categories: -Residential Tariff which includes Main account and Additional accounts -Non-residential Tariff -Agricultural and Fisheries Tariff -Cost-Reflective Tariff (excluding residential and agricultural categories)

Cost Reflective Tariffs (CRT)

The Council of Ministers approved the implementation of Cost Reflective Tariffs on electricity supplied to Government, Commercial and Industrial customers whose consumption exceeds 100 MWh per year, starting from 1 January 2021. Cost Reflective Tariffs consist of four components: - hourly Energy charges referenced to published PWP Bulk Supply Tariffs (BST); - a Transmission Use of System charge (T) applied to a customer’s contribution to system peak demand; - a Distribution Use of System Charge (D) applied to each kWh transported across a licensed Distribution System to a customer’s premises; - a Supply charge (S) to recover the costs of administering a customer’s account (including meter reading, billing and collection costs).
